How does electrolysis work?
Electrolysis is a specialized hair removal method that is particularly suitable for hair colors that cannot be effectively treated with light based technologies. While many technologies in this field use light or laser energy, electrolysis works in a different way.
A fine needle is inserted directly into the hair follicle, where a precise electrical current is delivered. This targets and destroys the hair root so that the hair cannot grow back.
Differences from other light based technologies
With light based methods, the light pulse is absorbed by melanin, the pigment in the hair, and the energy is directed toward the hair root. These technologies are therefore particularly effective for dark hair, as it contains more melanin. Blonde, white, or reddish hair, on the other hand, contains little or no melanin, which means the light energy cannot be absorbed effectively. In these cases, the hair follicle remains unaffected and the hair continues to grow, which can lead to unsatisfactory results.
Why is electrolysis ideal for light hair?
Electrolysis works independently of hair color because it does not rely on melanin. Instead, the hair follicle is directly targeted by an electrical current, which means that even very light, white, or red hair can be treated. This makes the method particularly suitable for people who have not achieved satisfactory results with other methods.

The treatment
How the treatment works
With electrolysis, each hair is treated individually at the root. A very fine, sterile needle is inserted into the treatment area and guided to the hair root. An electrical current is then delivered directly into the hair follicle to destroy it. The hair is then removed with tweezers.

Another advantage of electrolysis is its precise and targeted application. The electrical current is generally delivered directly to the individual hair follicle, targeting the hair root without affecting the surrounding skin. This makes the method particularly suitable for areas affected by tattoos or moles.
The method is also well suited for treating very small areas of the body.
How painful is electrolysis?
There is no general answer to how painful electrolysis is, as pain sensitivity varies from person to person. Many people describe a brief, sharp sensation similar to an insect bite, while others find the treatment uncomfortable but easily tolerable. Modern equipment and individually adjusted techniques help make the treatment as gentle as possible. Our specialists take your individual sensitivity into account and aim to ensure that the treatment remains as comfortable as possible.
What you should know about electrolysis
Before the treatment
It is important that the hair is at least 2 to 3 mm long before your electrolysis treatment. This allows each treated hair to be easily removed with tweezers. We therefore recommend not waxing or epilating the hair beforehand.
Electrolysis is also performed over several treatment sessions. This is mainly due to the natural hair growth cycle, as only hairs in the active growth phase can be treated at the root. During each session, a specific area is treated, which can then be treated again during your next appointment.
After the treatment
For up to 72 hours after your electrolysis treatment, you should protect the treated area from excessive heat and moisture. Swimming pool and sauna visits should therefore be postponed. You should also avoid intense UV exposure on the treated area for approximately 6 weeks whenever possible. Ideally, protect these areas with a sunscreen offering at least SPF 30. We also recommend avoiding the use of cosmetic products on the treated area for 72 hours.
